Troubleshooting checklist

1. Stitch is too loose.

• Check the thread tension.
• Check the sharpness of the feed dog and throat plate teeth.

2. The needles keep breaking.

• Check the looper and needle alignment.
• Check the needle alignment to the throat plate and presser foot needle guide.

3. The thread keeps breaking.

• Replace needle.
• Is the thread unrolling easily from the cone?
• Check the thread tension.
• Check the thread guides and make sure they are clean.

4. The machine is skipping stitches or does not make a thread chain at the end of the bag.

• Check the thread tension.
• Make sure the thread guides are clean and that thread can easily pass through them.
• Is the thread unrolling from the cone easily?
• Check the teeth on the feed dog and the throat plate. Replace them if they are dull.
• Check if the needle is bent, loose, or misaligned (replace it).
• Check if the looper is loose, worn or needs to be reset.
• Make sure the machine is properly threaded.

5. Approximately one-third of all machines problems are caused by an incorrectly inserted needle
(Left/right position and/or not deeply enough inserted).

• Please see needle replacement for correct installation.
• A new needle in the correct direction will solve many sewing problems.

Tips

1. Always let the sewing machine do the work. Do not pull the bag or materials through it.
Doing so can cause needle breakage, part damage or improperly sewn bags.

2. The best things you can do for your sewing machine are:

• Keep machine well oiled – the machine can only ?leak? if the oil pump or the oil manifold is cracked.
  The machine has an open oiling system with no seals and cannot be over oiled.
• Keep the machine clean.

3. At the first sign of sewing problems put in a new needle. The proper installation of a new needle will solve many problems.
